Here are some alarming DFW statisics.

  • More than 5 million Texans face hunger, including 1.3 million in DFW, and over 1/3 of those are children

  • Texas faces a food insecurity rate of 17.6%, representing 5.4 million people

  • Children make up 31% of those affected

  • This represents a 9% increase since 2022 

  • Areas served by the Tarrant Area Food Bank and the North Texas Food Bank saw a 12% increase in individuals served compared to the prior year

  • Over 60% of the 1.3 million people experiencing food insecurity live in Dallas & Tarrant counties
